The United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) has opened applications for the Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) Discretionary Grant Program. This program will offer $787 million in FFY 2024-2026 for planning and construction of surface transportation facilities to be resilient to natural disasters, severe storms, flooding, extreme temperature, and other extreme weather events. Please note that there is a change to the project selection criteria where USDOT “may prioritize projects that repurpose existing specialized travel lanes for bicycles, buses, or pedestrians for general purpose use by all motor vehicles.” Applications are due by Friday, October 9 at 10:59 p.m.
