June 2 - Both the Illinois House and Senate adjourned early in the morning on June 1 after adopting the SFY 2027 budget. For local governments, the budget passed by the General Assembly does not include any change to the Local Government Distributive Fund’s (LGDF) share of the income tax.
The fall veto session is scheduled for November 17-19 and December 1-3.
Legislation related to Governor Pritzker’s Building Up Illinois Developments (BUILD) agenda and the Chicago Bears stadium failed to advance and will likely receive attention over the summer.
Positively, there was little activity on Tier 2 pension enhancements for public safety employees. Despite being the NWMC’s focus at the beginning of session, no legislation altering benefits advanced this session.
