The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has opened applications for its Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). Applications which address the increase in roadway fatalities and achieve a reduction in traffic fatalities and serious injuries, and specific safety strategies to address a reduction of these incidents will be considered, with projects protecting bicyclists and pedestrians especially encouraged. IDOT hosted a webinar to discuss HSIP priorities and provide guidance on how to submit a quality application. A recording of the webinar can be found here.
